Meet Ms. Parr:
Ms. Parr has been studying music since she was four years old. Starting piano when she was very young led to her learning the clarinet, alto saxophone and tenor saxophone by the end of high school. She went to Oneonta State University for undergraduate study in Music Business and transferred to City College where she majored in music technology and music education later graduating with a BA in teaching music in grades K-12. She continued on to Hunter College where she completed her graduate degree in childhood education grades 1-6. Ms. Parr has been at P.S. 76 teaching various music programs since 2007. With help from a partnership called Education Through Music, every student at this school receives a sequential General music education as well as the participating in an annual 4th grade musical production, various winter and spring concerts and the opportunity to join various extracurricular ensembles such as the Choir (grades 4&5), Concert Band (5th grade) or Jazz Ensemble (5th grade). The P.S. 76 music department consists of Ms. Jessica Parr and two ETM teachers Ms. Emily Roman and Ms. Emily Murphy along with the constant partnership and support of Education Through Music.
